This double LP second volume of Bare Bones is comprised of the “original” duo versions of tunes that became staples of the Garcia/Grisman repertoire, all subsequently arranged for various group sessions. As Dawg states in the notes, “This collection illuminates our process of selecting and arranging the material. “The Sweet Sunny South”, released on Shady Grove as a banjo duet, was originally recorded with guitar and mandolin. Other tunes, like “The Crawdad Song” and “Moonlight Bay” were only tried once and never made it into our set lists.” This project is also available in the sonically superior Hi-Definition (24-bit, 96 kHz) download format.
