For fans of contemporary acoustic and new age music, as well as admirers of virtuosity and innovation, Acoustic Disc presents Galactic Mandolin, original solo instrumental compositions by Radim Zenkl, a gifted musician from Czechoslovakia. Having pursued an unlikely career as a mandolin player in Eastern Europe, Radim moved to America in 1989 to be closer to the source of his musical influences.

Galactic Mandolin offers a unique musical twist in that Radim’s mandolin is tuned differently for each composition. The first piece is written in regular tuning, and in each successive piece, one of the pairs of strings is tuned down a half step, thereby using all intervals from unison to octave, often producing some truly extraterrestrial sounds!
