DAVID LONG

David Long was born in the Winter of 1975. Since picking up the mandolin in 1996, Long has toured the U.S. and Canada with The Wildwood Valley Boys and the award winning Karl Shiflett and His Big County Show (2002 IBMA Emerging Artists of the Year). David has recently released his first solo project, Midnight From Memphis.

His involvement with Mike Compton is relatively new. Forming in the Spring of 2003, Compton and Long realized they had a mutual love for a variety of string band music; such as rural country blues, old time, bluegrass, and early black string band music. Since then, they have toured coast to coast playing theaters, festivals, and house concerts, in addition to conducting mandolin workshops. In addition to the traditional material, Compton and Long are prolific writers and composers.
