DGQ LIVE IN MONTREAL 7/8/83
David Grisman Quartet
On July 8, 1983 the David Grisman Quartet gave a powerful performance at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. This group, the only Grisman quartet, featured multi-instrumentalist Mike Marshall on guitar and mandocello, bassist Rob Wasserman and founding member Darol Anger on violin and mandolin. The show includes many Dawg classics like “Cedar Hill”, “Opus 38” and “Dawgology” as well as their arrangement of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s “Minor Swing” plus other favorites like “Dawg Funk” and the “Gypsy Medley” from the film “King of the Gypsies”. Fortunately the Festival provided a video crew to capture this unique ensemble at its peak. Originally released in 2006 on DVD as Classic Dawg and available for the first time as a digital download.
