FROM THE HEART OF GREENWICH VILLAGE

Marc Silber

Marc Silber has been known as a “musician’s musician” for six decades. His unique take on blues guitar stylings and his original songs are deeply rooted in traditional American folk idioms. During the 1960s, Marc’s ‘Fretted Instruments’ shop was a mecca for musicians in Greenwich Village and the scene of daily jam sessions with many legendary icons of the Folk Revival. Among them was Bob Dylan, who recently wrote, “Those of you familiar with the Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt approach to guitar playing will find that not only has Marc mastered these ragtime gospel styles, but has extended and evolved the tradition with his own haunting original songs.”

These recently discovered tracks, recorded by David Grisman in Dawg Studios were “lost” for three decades. Now they can be heard by all!
