THE OSBORNE BROTHERS AND RED ALLEN
The Osborne Brothers and Red Allen Live!
This quintessential trio of Bobby and Sonny Osborne with Red Allen only lasted for two years, but it made an indelible mark in the history of bluegrass music, bridging the gap between “old” and “new” grass. Bobby’s mandolin style laid the template for many players of the second generation — from John Duffey to Doyle Lawson and Sam Bush, while Sonny’s banjo innovations inspired J.D. Crowe and many others. Their vocal trio, smooth and pristine, influenced numerous bands from the Country Gentlemen to The New South. Until this release, their 16 MGM tracks were the only available recordings of this classic combo. This live set, including 30 songs and tunes they never recorded together, happily triples their output!
