This week we’re spotlighting That High Lonesome Sound by bluegrass supergroup, Old & In the Way. This collection features 14 songs from the original live Boarding House performances that produced the acoustic excitement captured on the original LP. Jerry Garcia picked banjo (his first instrument of expertise) and sang in this legendary Bay Area group from in 1973. This unique bluegrass band also included Peter Rowan (guitar, vocals), David Grisman (mandolin. vocals) Vassar Clements (fiddle. vocals), John Kahn (bass) and exposed a huge number of people to bluegrass music for the very first time.
