YOLANDA ARANDA

Yolanda Aranda was born in Northern California, but is of Mexican-American heritage. Her first musical influence was her father, Ernesto, who was a fine singer. They both studied with Solomon Guevara from Mexico City who was living in Oakland. She began her professional music career singing with Coro Hispana, a well known Latin-American choral group in San Francisco under the direction of Juan Pedro Gaffney.

Yolanda met her musical partner and future husband, Argentinian guitarist Enrique Coria, at an informal party when she began singing and he began accompanying her spontaneously. Together they recorded a wonderful album of authentic contemporary Latin Canciones — Intimo, produced by David Grisman.
