AONZO PLAYS CALACE

Carlo Aonzo

Carlo Aonzo, from Savona, Italy, is one of the world’s great mandolin virtuosos. His passionate playing is featured on two Acoustic Disc projects — Traversata, with Beppe Gambetta and David Grisman, and Tone Poets

On this recording, Carlo explores the repertoire of Raffaele Calace (1863 - 1934) from Naples, who composed amazingly beautiful and virtuosic music for solo mandolin. As Carlo states in his notes — “The works presented here follow a journey through Calace’s creative life, from his youthful compositions to the very last piece in his vast catalog, ranging from lyrical and accessible works to Preludes of transcendent virtuosity.”  Produced by David Grisman, this recording is available in the sonically superior Hi-Definition (24-bit, 96 kHz) format.
