ACOUSTIC AMERICA

David Grisman and Various Artists

On November 10, 2023 the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, launched a special 10-month exhibition, Acoustic America, which includes 32 instruments from the Dawg Collection. This unique recording project was conceived by David Grisman as a musical companion to this wonderful celebration of the American-made acoustic instruments and the folk, blues and bluegrass musicians who played them.

The collection includes several new Dawg originals and alternate takes from the Acoustic Disc archives as well as historically important recordings by mandolin virtuosos Dave Apollon, Bernardo De Pace and Giuseppe Pettine, and banjo pioneer and inventor, Fred Van Eps. Also featured playing with David are Jerry Garcia, Tony Rice, Martin Taylor, Danny Barnes, Sam Grisman and our own Tracy Grisman. This special release also comes with a beautiful digital booklet with photos and descriptions of all the instruments, and is available in the sonically superior Hi Definition format.
