DAWG’S GROOVE DELUXE EDITION
David Grisman Quintet
In 1977, the David Grisman Quintet's first album made a huge impact on the acoustic music world. Dawg's Groove marked the 30th anniversary of the enduring legacy of that historic album with new material and a new incarnation of this innovative ensemble.
This Deluxe Edition of Dawg’s Groove showcases the extraordinary musicianship and creative arranging/composing skills of David Grisman and his quintet. The program features six Dawg originals plus bassist Jim Kerwin’s elegant Celtic tribute to his Irish grandmother, “Ella McDonnel,” drummer George Marsh’s moving remembrance of his beloved daughter, "Waltz for Lucy,” flutist Matt Eakle’s “My Friend Dawg” and the jazzy title track‚ "Dawg's Groove,” penned by Tracy Bigelow Grisman. There are four previously unissued tracks, including Dawg’s “Blues for Vassar” with special guest, DGQ alumnus Jim Buchanan on fiddle. All tracks have been remastered in the sonically superior 24-bit, 96 kHz format.
